Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic option that can instantly transform your smile.

You may be surprised to learn that it can take just two visits to our clinic to see the transformation of your teeth, with results that look natural.

Are your teeth healthy but perhaps look crooked? Veneers are a good cosmetic solution for patients looking to transform a smile in an instant.

What are veneers?

Dental veneers are wafer-thin shells that are bonded to your natural teeth. They are made using with a porcelain or composite material. Veneers are made for each individual tooth and each individual patient, there is no one-size solution.
Once veneers are bonded in place they look completely natural. They are very thin but will offer you the same durability needed to stand up to the bite force that they will be subjected to. They will not impact your ability to eat, drink or speak.

Dental Veneers Dublin

Dental veneers are a cosmetic solution for healthy teeth that have discolouration or stains that cannot be treated and removed. Teeth that have been damaged from grinding or another type of injury can also alter the look of your smile. Veneers can restore your smile, with a natural look that you’ll love.

It’s very important that you keep in mind that veneers can only be bonded to healthy teeth. If there are any signs of decay, these issues will need to be treated prior to the veneers being bonded. Veneers cannot be used as a replacement for a crown or a filling.

If you have small gaps between your teeth or chips and cracks on your teeth, you’ll find that veneers can restore the look of the tooth in an instant. Veneers can be coloured so that they offer a perfect match to the shade of your natural teeth.

The veneers will require just one or two trips to the clinic so that each tooth can be prepared for bonding.

During your first consultation with your dentist, you will have the opportunity to have each of your questions answered. After an examination of your teeth, a treatment plan will be made. You may have X-rays done, along with intraoral and extra-oral photos of your teeth.

It’s important to note that veneer placement will be contingent upon any other dental work that might need to be done first. Only teeth that are free from decay can be fitted with veneers. You may need to have fillings and root canal treatments completed prior to getting your veneers.

The teeth that are being prepped for veneers will be buffed with a tool that will remove approximately half a millimeter from the surface of each tooth. This will ensure that you get the perfect fit for each of the veneers, with any interference in your bite.

Composite veneers are made with a material that is sculpted onto the teeth. The veneers will then be trimmed and set. They will be polished so that the results look beautiful, smooth and natural.

Porcelain veneers are made in an off-site laboratory. Impressions will be made of your teeth and will be sent off to the lab so that the veneers can be created. Temporary veneers could be bonded to your prepped teeth until the permanent veneers and are ready to be permanently bonded to your teeth.

Once in place your veneers should look natural, feel comfortable and be virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Procedure for veneers

There are advantages to porcelain veneers and composite veneers each. They offer their own distinct advantages and potential downsides. Working out which one is the better option for you will be based upon the goals that you have for your smile, and will also need to take your budget into consideration.

Composite veneers offer durability and strength but they typically do not last as long as their porcelain veneer counterparts do. They will likely need to be replaced within a few short years.
Porcelain veneers can offer more wear but can be the costlier option. Overall they are the most cost-effective option, due to the many more years that they will last over the composite veneers.
